As I envision the futureboth for myself and the worldI’m filled with a mix of optimism and curiosity. If humanity continues to thrive, I see a world brimming with possibilities, shaped by personal milestones and transformative technologies like AI. Here’s a glimpse into my hopes for the years ahead, from my plans to return to Kerala to my thoughts on AI’s growing role in our lives.
Personal Milestones: A New Chapter in Kerala
On a personal note, I’m preparing to wrap up my professional commitments in Mumbai and return to my hometown in Kerala. The serene climate and lush landscapes of Kerala call to me, offering a refreshing change from Mumbai’s hustle and bustle. Before I make this transition, I have two significant responsibilities to complete.
First, I need to relocate to a new home in Mumbai. This move is a logistical challenge, but it’s a crucial step toward simplifying my life here. Second, I’m in the final stages of a major project that I expect to complete within a year. Once these tasks are done, I plan to make Kerala my permanent base, with only occasional visits to Mumbai. This shift feels like a homecoming, a return to a place where I feel truly at ease.
Another personal goal is to see my son happily married. In India, it’s still common for parents to play a role in arranging their children’s marriages, though many young people now choose their own partnersand I’m perfectly fine with that. With the average marriage age for men in India around 28, I have about two years to support my son in this journey. Whether he finds his life partner or we help facilitate the process, I’m excited to witness this milestone.
The World’s Future: Embracing AI with Optimism
Looking beyond my personal aspirations, I believe artificial intelligence (AI) will define the world’s future. Whether we embrace it or approach it with caution, AI tools and devices are here to stay. From simplifying daily tasks to revolutionizing industries, AI is reshaping how we live, work, and connect.
Will AI make us lazier or less intellectually engaged? Perhaps. But I see parallels with past innovations, like motor vehicles. Cars made travel faster and more convenient, shrinking distances and opening new possibilities, even if they reduced our reliance on physical effort. Similarly, AI has the potential to enhance our lives by automating mundane tasks, freeing us to focus on creativity and meaningful connections.
Of course, there’s the dystopian fear of AI taking over, evoking visions of a Terminator-like scenario. While it’s natural to ponder such possibilities, I choose to focus on the positive potential of AIits ability to solve complex problems, improve healthcare, and make knowledge more accessible.
A Future Rooted in Hope
As I plan my move to Kerala and support my son’s journey, I’m optimistic about what lies ahead. On a global scale, I hope AI becomes a force for good, enhancing our lives while preserving our humanity. The future is uncertain, but with a blend of personal purpose and technological progress, I believe we can shape a world filled with hope and opportunity.
