To vax or not to vax

To vax or not to vax that is the question. Two years into the pandemic, the world seems divided into two camps: those who are willing to get vaccinated and those who refuse the jab. To clear the air right from the startI’ve taken both doses of the vaccine, as required in my country, and so has everyone in my immediate family.

Did I assess the vaccine’s chances of success before getting it?

No, I didn’t. But then again, I don’t scrutinize every over-the-counter medicine I take for various ailments. I’m not a doctor, nor do I keep up with the conspiracy theories that circulate online.

The pandemic has certainly given rise to a flood of theorieseverything from how it started to how it spreads and how to prevent it. Much of this informationor rather, disinformationoften comes from “graduates of WhatsApp University,” those who spend countless hours spreading whatever they come across on social media. For many of us, the real challenge lies in sifting through all this noise and deciding what to believe and what to dismiss.

Personally, I believe that no one should be forced into doing something against their will. However, if my inaction could lead to someone else falling ill or worse, dying, then I fully support getting vaccinated.
