The longest journey I made

The longest journey I made was a seven-day trip from my hometown in Kerala to my post in the state of Manipur, covering approximately 4,000 kilometers – one way.
I was working in a Central Government organization. While air travel was an option, it was super expensive and not sponsored by the Government. Had to opt for a more affordable route by train and bus.

Day 1: The journey began at 7 AM, with a drive from my home in Kerala to Trivandrum Railway Station. I boarded the train at 9 AM.

Day 2: The train arrived in Chennai at about 8 AM.

Day 3: Around 10 AM, the train reached Vijayawada.

Day 4: By 11 AM, I reached Howrah. Later that night, the train continued and arrived in Guwahati at 9 PM. I disembarked and found budget accommodation for the night.

Day 5: At 5 AM, I started a bus journey to Imphal, which took the entire day.

Day 6: I reached Imphal early in the morning and checked into another affordable hotel.

Day 7: I took a bus to my posting location, a journey that lasted another 7 to 8 hours.

The overall time taken both ways would come to 14 days. That would cut down into the annual 45 day holidays.

Now you know why I prefer to work from home.
