What was your favorite subject in school?

I was never the model student nor did I have any favorite subject in school. In fact, my school days are mostly a blur of painful memories. I hated going to school. The sight of children in uniforms, their bags weighed down with books, reminds me of lines of prisoners. The rigid routine, the never-ending rulesit felt like a constant battle. As an Army officer’s child, I moved around a lot. In my first ten years, I attended five different schools. The constant uprooting meant I never had the chance to settle, and coupled with the teachers I encounteredsome downright terriblemy school years became something I wished to forget. But there was one thing that saved me: my love for reading. While I may not have thrived in the classroom, the world of books was my escape. Every new academic year, I would tear through my English reader as soon… What was your favorite subject in school?

Managing screen time

Managing screen time is important, especially if you want to have a decent work – life balance and have some control over your sanity. I work in the computer industry. Which makes it mandatory that I stare at a computer screen for hours at a time. I also have the habit of waking up early – early as at 3.30 AM – every day of the year. I work till 8 PM. This would make it an extra long work day, but I have an advantage in that I work remotely. I  am also living alone at the moment, which means I get to cook, wash clothes and dishes – OK the washing machine helps, but still.  All these extra curricular activities give me a break from staring at the screen. I try to avoid reading or texting on my cell phone, using my desktop monitor for all that activity.… Managing screen time

Do I need time?

I believe I am doing okay and do not need time – I mean, extra time. We all have the same 24 hours each day, and how we use that time depends on our unique abilities. Giving someone extra time feels like favoritism, and I am not in favor of that. Ideally, we should all start from the same point and see how far we can go by the end of the race. For those who don’t reach the finish line, there’s no need to dwell on itjust learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward. Be better prepared for the next outing.
