What part of your routine do you always try to skip if you can?

A routine that I would try to skip would be the morning exercises. I try to work out five days a week. It is often a battle of mind over body or is it the body over mind?. My day starts earlyearly, as in 3:30 AM early. This routine goes back to my office going days and even further, to my Army family upbringing. I sleep by 8 PM, so no worries I do get my mandatory beauty sleep. By 4:00 AM, I’m at my desk tackling overnight emails (I work remotely). By 4:30, I’m finished and ready for exercise, with time set aside until 6:00 AM. Every morning, I come up with a long list of excuses to skip the workout. It takes a mental nudge, thinking about friends and family dealing with high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol, to remind me why staying active matters. Managing screen time

Managing screen time is important, especially if you want to have a decent work – life balance and have some control over your sanity. I work in the computer industry. Which makes it mandatory that I stare at a computer screen for hours at a time. I also have the habit of waking up early – early as at 3.30 AM – every day of the year. I work till 8 PM. This would make it an extra long work day, but I have an advantage in that I work remotely. I  am also living alone at the moment, which means I get to cook, wash clothes and dishes – OK the washing machine helps, but still.  All these extra curricular activities give me a break from staring at the screen. I try to avoid reading or texting on my cell phone, using my desktop monitor for all that activity.… Managing screen time

An ideal week for me

An ideal week for me would be a blissful parade of pure, unadulterated relaxationa full-on, all-you-can-eat buffet of laziness where work doesn’t even have a reservation. Just me, my couch, and the remote control, with no one around to say, “Shouldn’t you be doing something productive?” But here’s the problemI’m not built for that. Nope. My brain doesn’t come with an off switch. Even in my dream vacation, I’d still be up at 3:30 AM. Springing out of bed like I’m late for a marathon I didn’t sign up for. Or lying there like a burrito, tossing, turning, and holding an Olympic event called “Competitive Insomnia.” Relaxation? Hmm maybe it is not for me 😥
