Read the future in your palm

Do you believe in fortune-telling crafts? Do you think you can read the future in your palm?

Palmistry, astrology, horoscopes, tarot cards – even parrots with cards that predict your future – these are just some “apps” that have been predicting destiny for centuries. In India, we take horoscopes seriously. To this day, most of our marriages are fixed by matching horoscopes. If the stars are not perfectly aligned, even the most compatible couples call off their marriages.

Allow me to share an example from my family. We received a marriage proposal for one of my cousins. The boy was from a family we knew well. However, when we matched their horoscopes, an error appeared. It stated that the man did not have a long life and there was a high chance of my cousin becoming a widow if she married him. Needless to say, we rejected the proposal. Surprisingly enough, the man died in his early forties.

Some of us believed it was merely a coincidence, while my cousin became a big fan of horoscopes after this incident occurred. When such discussions arise within our family, those against them often point to the Western world, where belief in horoscopes is uncommon; whereas those arguing for these practices highlight the high divorce rates prevalent in the West.

Nevertheless, believers and non-believers will always continue to debate on this matter endlessly. We have individuals who refuse to step out of their houses or make any major decision without first consulting their trusted astrologers and having their star charts vetted.

Ultimately, though, it all comes down to personal beliefs. For or against, the stars alone can predict who will emerge victorious in this argument!
