List your top 5 grocery store items.

Forget the top 5 grocery store items, creating our list is more than just planningit’s a cherished family tradition filled with lively discussions and, occasionally, a bit of good-natured chaos.

When I sit down to finalize the list with my wife, it usually revolves around these staples:

  1. Rice and flour
  2. Pulses
  3. Soaps
  4. Cleaning detergents
  5. Bread

Things take a deliciously unhealthy turn when my son gets involved. His contributions usually look like this:

  1. Potato wafers
  2. Soft drinks
  3. Assorted snacks
  4. Instant noodles
  5. (Did I mention more wafers?)

This weekly ritual sparks animated debates about everything from healthy eating to the mysterious concept of calorific valueswhatever that means! But let’s be honest: we always end up buying more snacks than we should, and I’m guilty of sneaking in a few wafer packets myself.

Of course, indulging in those extra snacks means my exercise routine has to work overtime. But hey, that’s the price of family fun and good food!
