Rebirth

“ I am sorry, we tried our best!” said the Doctor and disappeared down the corridor.’Birth and Rebirth are two sides of the same coin’ declared a banner on the walls. Tears streaming down Mr. Gupta’s face. On the hospital bed was what remained of his son.“Had I not bought him the motorcycle, he would have been alive today!” Mr. Gupta said between sobs.He collapsed on the floor, not sure what to do next.A sharp jab in his back made him wince. It was a young girl holding a cane.“Why are you blocking my way?” she asked. The girl was wearing a patient’s gown.He stared at her for a few minutes.“I am sorry,” he said and got up. He let the girl pass.Mr. Gupta looked at his son for a second, then went to the Doctor and said, “I want to donate my son’s organs. He would have wanted it.”

A new friend

Hari was looking for a new friend. The last one was waving at him, as the bus disappeared in the distance. On the bus was the only friend he had made in the village. The friends had been inseparable. There were many children in his class at school, but Hari did not have a friend. A friend is someone you could trust, someone with whom you could share your dreams. As he walked back home, he saw a basket moving on its own. He was intrigued and went to check. The basket would move a bit and then stop. Then it would move again. Hari lifted the basket and found a puppy inside. “Who put you here?” It did not answer but wagged its tail furiously. The puppy tumbled a couple of times as it ran after Hari.“Come with me, we are friends now !” said Hari with a smile. The boy… A new friend
