A rich and diverse heritage

Ancient cultures, like India, possess a rich and diverse heritage. India, is home to cities that have been continuously inhabited for thousands of years, with family lineages that can be traced back through the centuries.

My home state of Kerala exemplifies a remarkable blend of cultural and religious harmony. Hinduism has thrived here for millennia, and in 52 AD, the first church in India was built in Kerala. The state also houses India’s first mosque, constructed in the 7th century, as well as its first synagogue, established in 1568.

While centuries ago these examples of coexistence were celebrated, today’s global culture seems to be shifting toward intolerance, with an increasing inability to accept diverse beliefs and traditions.

Forced assimilation is harmful, but peaceful coexistence should always be encouraged. Every culture and religion contributes its own unique flavor and practices, enriching the cultural heritage of a nation, which stands as an amalgamation of these diverse influences.
