An essential item to carry around

I would say that an essential item to carry around is your smartphone. Not that anyone today needs to be told that. We pick up our smartphones the minute we wake up and keep staring at it until it falls off our hands as we fall asleep at night!

I am not recommending keeping smartphones handy so that you can take selfies and post silly updates on social media. I am suggesting this gadget as a lifesaver in times of need. 

The smartphone in its modern form does the work of a telephone, a text messenger, a compass, radio, GPS device, calculator, address book, camera … A recent study calculated about 50 devices that got replaced by smartphones. In dire situations, if you are stuck in a remote location and if you are lucky to get connectivity, it could save your life.

A smartphone is your window to the world. It is also the world in your pocket. Keep it close and use it wisely.
