Fashion changes over the years

When I was a kid back in the 70s, it was the time of bell-bottoms. Long hair, huge shirt collars and yes, fashion changes over the years impacted me in a big way. I remember I had an orange colored shirt with crowns all over it. I was pretty impressed with it. You have to remember I must have been about five or six then and was not a very bright kid.

Then, if I recall correctly, the bell-bottoms slimmed down. The hair had to be trimmed, and people forgot all about side locks. When I was in college, it was all about tight shirts. The muscles had to show, even when you had none to show. I realized that I was able to slide into shirts and trousers just the way they came in from the ready-made shelf. No alteration required. That was, of course, an age when my tummy was under control.

The nineties and subsequent years were years when I went to the office, and it was all about formals. Not much to choose there, at least for men. Light colored shirts and dark-colored trousers. Any deviation from this rule and the HR girls would roll their eyes. Luckily, I got to work from home later and have been lucky ever since.

The best part of the work from home scam is you only need to worry about the top half of your dress. What comes below the camera screen is entirely up to you. I have taken video calls dressed in impressive shirts combined with a pajama or shorts 😀 You only need to remember not to abruptly get up in the middle of a call.

One thing I am always thankful for is that bell-bottoms never made it back. Or did they. Who knows? Never got a grip of the latest fashion trends.
