What is your favorite season of year? Why?

My favorite season starts as the first drops of rain kiss the parched earth. The rainy season, spanning June to October in India, is my favorite time of year. Despite its challengesfloods, diseases, and muddy streetsthere’s something magical about the rains that captivates my heart and sustains our nation.

Water is life, even in our tech-driven world. For India, the monsoon is the heartbeat of our economy. A few rainless years can shake even the strongest economies, as crops wither and rivers dry up. From farmers in rural villages to city dwellers, we all depend on the rains to fill our dams and reservoirs. As the monsoon unfolds, millions anxiously track rising water levels, knowing this precious resource will irrigate fields, power homes, and feed communities until the next season.

Yes, the rains bring challenges. Flooded roads and waterborne illnesses are real concerns. Yet, there’s beauty in the chaos. The scent of wet earth, the rhythmic patter of raindrops, and the sight of lush greenery springing to lifethese moments make the season unforgettable. Dark clouds rolling in signal hope, each drop a promise of renewal for a land thirsting for sustenance.

Perhaps one day, technology will reduce our reliance on the monsoon. Innovations like desalination or advanced irrigation could change the game. But for now, we remain tethered to the skies, our eyes scanning the horizon for those telltale clouds. The rainy season isn’t just a weather event; it’s a cultural lifeline, uniting us in anticipation and gratitude.
