Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you

This is a true story, a random encounter that happened way back In 1995. At age 24, I was posted as a government officer in a remote Himalayan village, overseeing vast areas without electricity or decent plumbing. My days were spent wandering the village or reading novels in my office, with my four staff members rarely showing up except to collect their salaries.

One day, I visited a staff member who was ill, lying in his mud-plastered bamboo hut. As we talked in the dim light, two armed men entered without warningmembers of a notorious terrorist group active in the region. They stiffened upon seeing me, a government official, but my staff introduced me, and after a tense moment, they saluted and left.

Weeks later, one of the men reached out through my staff. Exhausted by his fugitive life and fearing death in a military encounter, he wanted to surrender. I arranged for him to lay down his arms, and he eventually became a farmer in the village. Over the next six months, I checked on his progress. This encounter changed us both: he reclaimed his life, and I got all the credit!
