The most important invention in my lifetime

There have been many important inventions, but I think the one that stands out is the Internet. 

It all started with research facilities connecting their computers. The idea that computers across geographic locations could be connected was the turning point. From those humble beginnings to the World Wide Web, which today straddles the entire globe and connects all of us, it has been a giant leap.

Imagine life without the internet. We would have to visit libraries if they exist. Read books if available. All for scraps of information. People in remote parts of the world would be cut off from civilization. News of what happened in one corner of the world would take months or years to reach others. The internet brought us all together.
There has been a negative side to this as well. In that, we stopped being social and false news spreads faster now. All said and done, it is the advantages that far stand out.
