Honestly, I have no thoughts or feelings about those eating meat or those who do not. I have better things to think about. Personally I converted to a ovo-lacto vegetarian – some one who eats or consumes eggs, diary products and vegetables.
That being said, the question of eating meat is a loaded questionone that could spark debates or even land you in hot water. Take these two striking examples: Adolf Hitler, infamous for his atrocities, was reportedly a vegetarian for much of his life. Meanwhile, the Buddha, revered for his enlightenment, is said to have died after consuming spoiled pork. Whether these claims are factual is up for debate, but they lead us to an intriguing question: Does our diet truly shape our character or nature?
My take? Probably not. Our true nature adapts to what we choose to nurture within ourselves, regardless of what’s on our plate.
Let me share my journey. I started life as a non-vegetarian, but about two decades ago, I chose to give up meat and fish. It wasn’t a casual decisionI had an epiphany, a moment that profoundly shifted my perspective and altered the course of my life.
But did this dietary change make me a better person? Honestly, I don’t think so. I’m still the same old me, complete with my quirks and grumpiness. My diet may have changed, but my essence has remained largely the same.
So, does what we eat define who we are? Perhaps not. But it can certainly reflect the values we hold dear and the journeys we’ve undertaken.
