In my list of favorite websites
Search: Google (with all the security features enabled), Duckduckgo,
News: FOX, CNN, BBC, NY Post, TOI (Indian website), HT(Indian website) – do not blindly trust any of them as they all have a bias in their reporting.
Entertainment: Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hotstar
Information: Wikipedia (do not trust, as I know from personal experience the articles are all edited by fiercely opinionated editors.) Do a web search for any specific information, and refer multiple sites to get a more ‘balanced’ view
Social media: X – formerly known as Twitter – even with all the cranks active, it is still the best source to get news firsthand.
The internet is a treasure trove of information. At the same time, it can also be a den of disinformation and vice. Be careful what you share or view. The digital footprint you leave behind reveals a lot more than you may want to voluntarily share.
A word of advice, switch to Brave browser. It does not leach your information or consume resources like Chrome and is pretty fast.
